We have a School-Based Health Center at the Academy of International Studies. The clinic is staffed by a school nurse, Michelle Moss (RN), and a nurse practitioner, Josiane Alexandre (APRN), who work collaboratively with the CREC Medical Director. Chyane Colon also works as health services administrative assistant in the clinic. CREC International works collaboratively with your child’s primary care provider to promote continuity of care. The school nurse will provide routine care and first aid to all students and the nurse practitioner will be responsible for the following services:
Our goals for our School-Based Health Center (SBHC) are:
- To increase student health and wellness
- To minimize absenteeism
- To provide support to families who find it difficult to access healthcare during the school year
CREC’s family medical nurse practitioner offers:
- Physical examinations for school or sports
- Immunizations
- Diagnosis and treatment of common minor illnesses, such as a sore throat, an ear infection, or acne
- Management of chronic conditions, such as asthma and diabetes
- Diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries
- Individual and group health promotion and education
- Reproductive health services (limited)
